Neither. GPHI is a Tippgeber (referrer): we run websites where people looking for German private health insurance ask to be connected with a broker, and we pass those enquiries to licensed partners. We give no insurance advice, recommend no tariffs and never advise your clients — you are the broker of record at all times.
From our own websites. Visitors actively request a consultation and consent to their contact details being shared with the broker who will handle them. Enquiries are not bought in from third-party lead sellers.
No. Each enquiry is assigned to exactly one dedicated broker. We never sell the same lead twice or send it to several partners at once. An enquiry is only reassigned if you do not accept it within the acceptance window (see “Handling enquiries” below).
They are qualified in the sense that the person has actively asked for private health insurance advice and agreed to be contacted. They are not pre-screened for insurability or PKV eligibility — assessing that is your job as the licensed broker.
You need a valid insurance broker licence in the country where you operate — §34d GewO in Germany, or an EU/EEA equivalent — and you must keep it valid for the whole partnership.
Your commission multiple
Nothing up front. There is no sign-up fee, no monthly fee and no price per lead. GPHI earns only on success: when a policy you placed is concluded and the insurer has paid you, you owe us a one-off referral commission of your agreed multiple × the client's monthly gross premium.
You do. After creating your account you choose your own multiple in the portal (for example 3.5× the monthly premium) before signing the contract. The multiple in the sample contract below is blank for exactly that reason.
Yes. When new enquiries are assigned, brokers offering a higher multiple are given priority — the higher your multiple, the more enquiries you can expect. A lower multiple is perfectly fine too; you will simply be assigned fewer leads.
Up to the moment of signing you can change both freely. Once the contract is signed by both parties the terms are locked; any later change needs a written amendment agreed with us, so just get in touch if your situation changes.
Paying GPHI — Models A & B
Only after you have been paid. Our commission is strictly downstream of yours: under Model A it falls due within 14 days of you receiving your own commission from the insurer; under Model B each instalment falls due within 14 days of the monthly commission you receive. If the insurer never pays you, you owe GPHI nothing.
Then nothing is owed — for that enquiry there is no fee of any kind. You only ever pay on a concluded policy after the insurer has received the first premium and paid you.
Model A (Lump Sum): you pay the full commission in one amount within 14 days of receiving yours; if the client cancels later, GPHI refunds you the same proportion the insurer actually charges back to you. Model B (Instalments): you pay 60 equal monthly instalments (1/60 each). If the policy lapses the remaining instalments simply stop, and already-paid instalments are refunded only in the narrow case where the insurer claws 100% of your commission back from you within the first 12 months. The choice is yours.
Model A: the refund is mirrored — you have already paid GPHI, so we refund you the same proportion the insurer actually charges back to you, and never less. If the insurer does not charge you back (for example death of the insured, or a statutory switch to GKV after at least 12 paid months), you keep your commission and no refund is due. Model B: your remaining instalments stop from the month of cancellation. Instalments you have already paid are not refunded, except where the insurer charges 100% of your commission back to you within the first 12 months, in which case GPHI refunds those instalments in full (on proof of the insurer's chargeback).
Our commission mirrors yours. It is calculated on the premium components the insurer actually commissions; components paid at a reduced rate reduce our share in the same proportion, and components with no commission (e.g. the statutory surcharge or PVN) are excluded entirely.
Our commission only ever applies to private health insurance (German PKV or international/expat plans). If you place a GPHI-referred client in such a policy within 24 months of the referral — even outside the platform — the normal referral commission applies; after 24 months the client is fully yours. Anything else you sell them (occupational disability, life, liability …) is commission-free as long as your website links to the germanprivatehealthinsurance.com homepage (set this up under Link Exchange in the portal); without that link, the referral commission also applies to other lines within the 24 months.
Handling enquiries
Within 8 working hours (Mon–Fri, 09:00–18:00 — roughly one working day). If you don't accept in time, the enquiry may be reassigned to another broker and no commission arises for you on it. Once accepted, there is no deadline pressure — advising takes as long as the client needs.
Register your absence in the portal. While you are marked absent, no new enquiries are assigned to you and the acceptance deadline is suspended — you will never lose a lead because you were on holiday.
Contact and needs data only (name, contact details, employment situation, cover requirements) — never health data. The client has consented to the transfer; you act as an independent data controller under the GDPR, and health assessment happens solely between you and the client.
Applying & the contract
You receive an activation link to set a password, and you can explore the portal immediately with demo data. When you're ready you complete onboarding (company and licence details, payment model and multiple), sign the contract digitally, and after our countersignature and approval you start receiving real enquiries.
No. Applying only creates your portal account. Nothing is binding until you have signed the partnership contract and we have countersigned it — until then you can look around and walk away at any time.
The contract is bilingual. The German text is the legally binding version; the English part is a translation aid. The document below is exactly what you will sign — only your details and your chosen multiple are filled in later.
Yes. Either side can terminate with 30 days' written notice to the end of a month. Obligations from policies already placed (open clawback periods under Model A or remaining instalments under Model B) survive termination.
